Presented is a 2002 Alfonso Soriano New York Yankees inscribed and signed game used bat. The off-white, Original Maple Bat Co., Model Number AS12 bat measures 35.0", and it weighs 34.7 ounces. It is made of maple and has no finish. The bat shows outstanding use, with ball marks, dents, worn tape on the handle, paint transfers, and pine tar remnants. An unknown hand has written the bat length and weight on the top of the barrel in black ink. The bat has been broken into two pieces and repaired. Machine stamped on the barrel: "NEW YORK YANKEES/AS 12/ALFONZO SORIANO/RIDEAU CRUSHER." The bat is taped from the knob to a spot about 12.75" up the handle. On the label area is the image of a black bat (the ones with wings, that fly). There is a large amount of pine tar remnants for a length of about seven inches in the label area.
Soriano played both second base and left field in his career: New York Yankees (1999-2003 & 2013-14), Texas Rangers (2004-05), Washington Nationals (2006) and Chicago Cubs (2007-13). In the 2002 season when this offered bat was game used, Soriano had his best season. stolen bases (41). Playing mainly at second base, he led the AL in plate appearances (741), at bats (696), runs (128), hits (209) and stolen bases (41). He finished 3rd in the AL MVP voting, was an All-Star and a Silver Slugger recipient. For his career, Soriano batted .270 with 412 home runs and 289 steals.
