Billy Martin managed the New York Yankees five times. Presented is an August 2, 1975, New York Yankees ticket stub from Martin's first game as the Yankee manager, when his Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians 5-3. Martin was a second baseman with the Yankees from 1950-53 and from 1955-57. Martin was traded from the Yankees during the 1957 season, and he played for a number of clubs as his playing career wound down. He only batted a career .257, but he was a remarkable, clutch player in the World Series: He saved the 1952 World Series for the Yankees against the Brooklyn Dodgers when he caught a wind-blown Jackie Robinson pop-up late in the game, and Martin was a hitting star in the '53 World Series, and he was named the World Series MVP. As a manager, he won pennants with the 1976 and '77 Yankees, and the World Championship in '77. Overall, Martin managed for 19 Major League seasons, as he also skippered the Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers, Texas Rangers, and Oakland Athletics.

The offered ticket stub measures approx. 1.5x2.75", and it exhibits some darkening. It reads, in part, "SAT., AUG.2-1975/ENTER GATE B/Loge Reserved $4.00/Rain Check." There is also an image of the Yankees logo. The ticket stub has been encapsulated and PSA graded as "VG 3."
