Tremendous use is displayed with a handle crack, blue baseball ink transfers, and some checking to the barrel, with Billy's number 3 written on the knob in bold black marker. The labeling period dates this to his first full season in MLB (second overall), and includes signatures from his father, Cal Ripken, Sr., and brother, baseball's Ironman, Cal Jr., with black Sharpie autographs ranging from 7-9/10. Despite playing in the shadow of his Hall of Fame older brother, Billy had a solid 12-year career of his own, appearing in 912 Major League games.
