Bob Feller makes his "pitch" for Motorola television sets in this rare point-of-sale die-cut advertising display dating from the late 1950s. The small cardboard counter sign features a portrait image of Feller at the top, below which is the printed text "Motorola - Bob Feller/Baseball/TV Special." The top right hand corner of the display was reserved for a handwritten price by the retailer, if so desired. This is the first example of this colorful advertising piece we have ever seen, let alone offered. Feller was Motorola's main spokesperson during the late 1950s, and kids could receive a free Bob Feller baseball and instruction booklet at any Motorola dealer just by visiting the store with their parents. The offered display (approximately 6x6") has a precut fold along the left border so that the panel could bend backwards, thereby allowing the piece to stand freely on the counter. Light wear is evident throughout, including a tiny bit of foxing. Excellent condition overall. This is a seldom seen piece and one that would make a fine addition to any advanced Bob Feller or baseball-advertising collection.
