Collection of ten Pittsburgh Pirates game worn pants spanning the years 1960 to 1987. The four highlights are those worn by Hal Smith in 1960, Dave Parker in 1977, Phil Garner in 1979, and Bill Madlock in 1983.

1) 1960 Hal Smith Pants (World Championship Season). The gray flannel road pants feature a "MacGregor 36" label in the front waistband. Two separate white strip tags in the rear waistband display, respectively, the year ("60") and the uniform number, size, and inseam measurement ("5 36 26") chain-stitched in red. (Hal Smith was the only player to wear #5 for the Pirates in 1960.) The number "63" is written twice on the interior in blue and black marker, indicating that the pants were most likely later sent down for use by a minor league affiliate. Heavy wear, but free of any tears.

2) 1977 Dave Parker Pants (Batting Title Season). The white pinstripe home pants feature a "Descente" label on the interior right pocket, with an adjacent flag tag reading "Set IV 1977." The uniform number, size, and year ("39 36 77") are embroidered in black upon a white strip tag located directly below the manufacturer's label. The word "Boy" is written in black marker below the strip tag (possibly later used by a bat boy?). The inseam measurement ("26 1/2") is written in black marker on the interior zipper flap. Extensive wear (indicating later use in the minor leagues) including a large tear on the right front leg, heavy staining, and numerous team repairs.

3) 1979 Phil Garner Pants (World Championship Season). The gold knit pants feature a "Wilson 30" label in the rear  waistband. The uniform number, year, and inseam measurement (3 79 22) are chain-stitched in black upon a gold strip tag to the left of the manufacturer's label. (Phil Garner was the only Pirates player to wear #3 in 1979.) Heavy wear, with a very large fabric repair on the rear left leg, as well as a few additional small team repairs and light stains.

4) 1983 Bill Madlock Signed Pants (Batting Title Season). The black knit pants feature a "Descente" label in the waistband. A white strip tag below the manufacturer's label displays the uniform number, size, inseam measurement and year ("5 34 22 1/2 83") embroidered in black. (Bill Madlock was the only Pirates player to wear #5 in 1983.) The letters "T. S." are written in black marker on the interior, indicating that the pants were most likely later sent down for use by a minor league affiliate. The number "22 1/2" (the inseam measurement) is written in blue marker on the button fly. Madlock has signed the pants in black marker (grading 5/10) in black marker on the exterior waistband. Moderate-to-heavy wear, with an abrasion on the rear right leg. Included with the pants are the following: 1-2) Two pairs of Bill Madlock team shorts (one white, one gold). Each pair of shorts features Madlock's name ("B. Madlock") embroidered on the right leg, and the Pirates team name and logo embroidered on the left leg. Light wear for each. 3) White-and-gold three-quarter sleeve baseball undershirt with the the number "5" written on the reverse and the word "Dog" written in the collar, both in black marker. Moderate wear.

The remaining six pants, all of which display heavy wear, consist of the following years: 1980 (black; Descente; no number listed); 1981 (black; Descente; original number in marker crossed out); 1982 (black; Descente; #31; no player wore #31 in 1982; possibly an extra that was later used in the minors); 1982 (black; Descente; #3; Johnny Ray wore #3 in 1982); 1983 (gold; Wilson; #16; both Steve Nicosia and Joe Orsulak wore # 16 in 1983); and 1987 (gray; Rawlings; #2; the name "Morrison" stitched in rear waistband; Jim Morrison wore #2 in 1987). Also included are six pairs of gold stirrup socks and two pairs of black stirrup socks that, presumably, were used by Pirates players during the 1980s.
