Presented is an unmarked artist rendition print of Roberto Clemente, the Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Famer and one of the greatest all-around right fielders in baseball history. Clemente, born in 1934, in Carolina, Puerto Rico, played 18 Major League seasons, 1955-72, all with the Pittsburgh Pirates. In high school in Puerto Rico, Clemente was such an accomplished javelin thrower that he was considered to have Olympic potential, and he later credited his javelin throwing to developing his wonderful throwing arm, which helped him win 12 Golden Glove Awards. Clemente was a 2-time World Champion, and a 4-time NL batting crown winner. He belted 240 home runs, hit a career .317, and finished his playing career with exactly 3,000 hits. Clemente was for many years very involved in charitable work, and he died on Dec. 31, 1972, when he was onboard a Douglas DC-7 plane he had chartered, with emergency supplies for victims of an earthquake in Nicaragua, and the plane crashed into the water off Isla Verde, Puerto Rico.

The color print, created from the work of an unknown artist, measures 8.25x5.25". It features Clemente in his sleeveless Pittsburgh Pirates home uniform, kneeling with his bat, his glove before him. Clemente, using blue ballpoint ink, signed and inscribed the photo as, "Best Wishes Roberto Clemente." The photo is in EXCELLENT condition. It comes with a PSA/DNA LOA for the signature (Cert: B88607).
