Official National League (Frick) baseball signed in blue ink by twenty-three members of the 1949 National League Champion Brooklyn Dodgers. Graded NM 7 by PSA. (PSA has graded both the signatures and ball NM 7, resulting in a final overall grade of NM 7.) A grade of NM 7 for a pre-1950s ball is exceptionally high and this is one of the finest 1949 Dodgers team balls we have ever seen. The twenty-three signatures featured on the ball are those of Robinson (MVP season), Campanella, Snider, Reese, Hodges, Erskine, Roe, Banta, Miksis, Whitman, Narron (bullpen catcher), Hatten, Barney, Minner, Rackley, Edwards, Branca, Jorgensen, Hermanski, Palica, Furillo, and Cox. The signature of manager Burt Shotten on the sweet spot has been deemed a clubhouse example by PSA; however, the ball is also accompanied by a full LOA from JSA, which differs in its opinion of the Shotten signature, deeming it "Authentic." It should be noted that clubhouse signatures on Dodgers balls from this era are the norm and most examples have numerous clubhouse signatures. The fact that the offered ball might have just one makes it a rare exception. This is an outstanding Brooklyn Dodgers team ball dating from the team's "Golden Age" and one would be hard pressed to find a finer example. Full LOAs from both PSA (NM 7) and JSA.
