This in-house award presented to band member Bobby Whitlock for the much heralded “Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs” album commemorates sales of two million dollars. The RIAA was still five years from designating sales beyond gold status when this title was on the charts. Thus, it was left up to the individual record labels to present their own platinum awards. In Excellent condition, awards in this format are rarely seen. This landmark band was heralded for the guitar work of Duane Allman, and the soulful work of Eric Clapton whose inspiration came in the form of Patti Boyd, George Harrison's wife.
