Presented is a collection of baseball items from the 1940s through the 1960s: 1) Eight (8) Auravision Records. These recordings are 33.3 RPM records that are on a cardboard square measuring 6.75x6.75". Auravision was a product of Columbia Records, and the records show a copyright date of 1962. The front of each record depicts and nice, color photo of a star player. The transparent flexible record was laminated over a picture of a player. There is a perforation in the center that can be punched out to make a spindle to play the record. The offered Auravision records are part of a set of eight records from 1962. These records contain a facsimile signature on front and very detailed statistics and a player bio on back. Famed sports announcer Marty Glickman conducted a five-minute interview with each player chosen, and that interview is heard when the record is played. Players included: Willie Mays, Roger Maris, Warren Spahn (3), Ken Boyer, Rocky Colavito, Whitey Ford. Not included, but in the original Auravision issuance of 1962 are Jim Gentile and Mickey Mantle. Only the Mays, Maris, and Colavito records have the center spindle hole punched out. The records show use - corner wear, and partial corner folds, and a few small places in the corners where the lamination is partially peeled back, but not where the recording circles are found. The records may still play, but that is unknown. Overall, the records are in EXCELLENT or VERY GOOD condition.
Also included: 1) A 1941 Brooklyn Dodgers Official Scorecard, with a scored game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Ebbets Field. The scorecard measures approx. 6.6x 9.8" and it has 16 pages. The program shows darkening and some of the pages are brittle and exhibit places of small paper loss. The program has some staining in places. 2) A special issue magazine titled The Dodgers 1941/Today and Yesterday. The approx. 8.5x11" publication has 64 pages. It has pictures, stories and statistics and is almost like a yearbook. The spine shows paper loss, a tear and a missing staple and many of the pages show small tears and darkening. The spine has tape over it in places. 3) A publication titled Baseball's Beloved Bums. It measures 9x12", and it has 80 pages. It is almost like a yearbook, with photos, stories, and statistics involving the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers. The most interesting section is a special 2-page "Insert Showing Changes in Team Since Date This Book Was Published. This insert has a 4x10" photo of Robinson, apparently posed at first base and a lengthy write-up about his breaking the modern Major League "color line." The publication shows darkening minor paper loss and a few stains, but the Robinson added section is fascinating.
