Presented is a 1935 Rabbit Maranville signed photograph of the Hall of Fame shortstop that has a PSA/DNA AUTO GRADE of "GEM MT 10." He was a fine defensive player who played 23 MLB seasons: Boston Braves (1912-20 & 1929-33 & '35) Pittsburgh Pirates (1921-24), Chicago Cubs (1925), Brooklyn Dodgers (1926), St. Louis Cardinals (1927-28). Maranville was on the 1914 Boston World Champions. He had a .254 career batting average, yet he was a very valuable player. Boston Braves manager George Stallings said that Maranville, who stood only 5'5" and weighed less than his listed weight of 155 lbs., was considered by most to be too small to play in the Major Leagues. But Stallings thought otherwise: "Size never handicapped speed from going after a ball." As for his "Rabbit" nickname, some sources say it came from Maranville's large ears, which stuck out. But he said it came from a young girl who saw him play in New Bedford and said that he "ran around and hopped like a rabbit."

The offered signed photo measures 3.1x4.1". Using black ink from a fountain pen, Maranville signed and inscribed the photo as, "Best Wishes from Rabbit Maranville 1935." The photo has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA CERTIFIED AUTO GRADE "GEM MT 10." The photo is in EXCELLENT condition.
