Displayed is an early 1960s John F. Kennedy signed black & white matte photo display that was inscribed for a war hero, General Donald Dawson. Kennedy served in both the U. S. House of Representatives and the U. S. Senate before he defeated Richard Nixon to win the 1960 Presidential Election. Kennedy was the first Catholic to be elected U. S. President and the youngest elected President, at 43 years of age. He served as the 35th President of the United States from 1961 until his assassination on November 22, 1963. In his time in office, Kennedy presided over the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. He increased the number of U. S. "advisors" in South Vietnam, and he was in charge of the failed U.S. attempt to overthrow the Cuban government of Fidel Castro in the disastrous Bay of Pigs invasion, and its aftermath, the Cuban Missile Crisis. In his time in office, Kennedy saw the formation of the U.S. Peace Corps. He also was promoted increased civil rights for minorities, and he furthered space exploration with the Apollo Program.
The offered photo measures approx. 7.4x8.2". It depicts a formally dressed Kennedy and his stylishly dressed wife, Jackie Kennedy. Both are smiling and attending an unknown event. Kennedy signed his name and inscribed the photo. He penned, in black steel-tip fountain pen, "For General Donald Dawson - With esteem and every good wish/John F. Kennedy". The photo has a thick cardstock backing that measures approx. 9.6x11.4". This backing has darkening and staining, but neither imperfection affects the actual photo. The photo display comes with a JSA LOA (Cert. Number ZZ00353) and with an JSA autograph grade of "9". It also comes with a Beckett LOA for the signature. Although the display's cardstock backing has stains, the photo itself is in EXCELLENT condition.
