A vintage glove used in the Major Leagues during the 1910s by former National League MVP Jake Daubert. With a labeling period dating circa 1913, the first baseman's mitt is tan in color and was made by Draper and Maynard. The piece is well used, but also in fantastic shape for an item that is more than 100 years old. The lot has been consigned by the grandson of Daubert and the lot includes a letter from the family. Playing for Brooklyn and Cincinnati Daubert was a two-time batting champion, Most Valuable Player and a participant of the famed 1919 World Series that saw the Cincinnati Reds defeat the Chicago White Sox (also referred to as the Black Sox). Daubert was the winner of the 1913 National League MVP Award, which was then called the Chalmers Award. Tragically, Daubert passed away in 1924 from surgery complications. He finished his career with a .303 batting average and 2,326 hits. Comes with PSA LOA verifying its authenticity and stating game use by Daubert.
