Remarkable piece paper is a century-and-a-half old. Land grant signed by our seventh President, Andrew Jackson in 1853, is headlined by "The United States of America". Document states that "full payment has been made by the said James Backhouse according to the provisions of the Act of Congress of the 24th of April 1820 entitled 'An act making further provision for the sale of Public Lands' for the West half of the North West quarter of Section thirty-six, in Township seven of Range one, West, in the District of lands offered for sale at Cincinnati, Ohio, lying in Indiana, containing eighty acres..." Signed in black ink (clearly legible, Excellent condition). Document is folded twice horizontally and twice vertically, o/w EX.
