Of all the early Baseball Hall of Fame souvenirs we have handled over the years this piece might be the rarest: a metallic license plate holder reading "National Baseball Museum/Hall of Fame/Copperstown N. Y." This is not only the first such example we have ever offered, but the first we have seen. While we are not sure exactly when this piece was issued by the Hall of Fame, the fact that a 1951 Massachusetts license plate remains firmly attached to the holder most likely dates it to the 1940s/1950s. The license plate holder (10.5x4.5") displays wear commensurate with its age and former use, including areas of red paint loss along the base.
