Mathewson had a career record of 373-188, and his NL win total is the highest in history, tied with Grover Cleveland Alexander for third place for the most career wins in MLB annals. "Matty" was highly intelligent, and he was a Bucknell University graduate who was also an author of a number of books. Also known as the "Big Six," Mathewson set a record for World Series shutouts in one series with an incredible three shutouts during the Giants' 1905 World Series Championship.
