Displayed is a vintage signed cut autograph from one of America's all-time foremost actors, Lionel Barrymore. Born as Lionel Herbert Blyth, Lionel took the name of Barrymore from his parents' acting name. Lionel was the older brother of famed actors John and Ethel Barrymore, and the great-uncle of actress Drew Barrymore. Lionel won an Academy Award as Best Actor for his role as lawyer Stephen Ashe in Free Soul (1931). Some of Lionel Barrymore's more famous film roles: It's a Wonderful Life (1936), as the villainous Mr. Potter; You Can't Take It with You (1938), as Martin Vanderhof; Key Largo (1948), as James Temple; On Borrowed Time (1939), as Julian Northrup (Gramps).

The Barrymore signature is single-signed on a 2.5x4.25" piece of thin card stock or paper. The signature and inscription ("Best Wishes") were crafted in black ink from a steel-tip marker. The offering comes with a JSA LOA for the signature and the inscription (Cert. #316837). The cut signature has been affixed to a 3.25x4.75" card. On the bottom of the card is "LIONEL BARRYMORE" on a thin, 2.8" piece of tape and made with a hand-held labeler. The cut signature and the inscription are neatly scripted. The card with the signature exhibits some darkening, some minor corner wear, and some small evidence of a tape or glue remnant.
