Cut signature of Pittsburgh Pirates star pitcher Charles "Deacon" Phillippe. PSA has encapsulated the signature and certified the signature as "Authentic." Phillippe's signature, which appears to be cut from a legal document (his name is typed below the signature line), is scripted in black ink and grades 8/10. Phillippe was one of the top pitchers in the Major Leagues during the early 1900s. During his thirteen-year Major League career (1899-1911), all of which was spent with the Pirates franchise, Phillippe won 20 or more games six times and finished with 189 wins. He also won three games in the 1903 World Series against Boston. Phillippe died in 1952 and his signature, like most of his Pirates teammates from that time period, is scarce. The cut (4x1"), which has been affixed to a an unlined index, displays a few tiny areas of adhesive residue and is in Very Good condition overall. Also accompanied by a COA from JSA (corresponding hologram label affixed to the reverse of the index card).
