Displayed is a 1999 Ricky Williams New Orleans Saints game worn road jersey, signed and inscribed by the 1998 Heisman Trophy winner. Williams, a running back, was a 2-time unanimous All-American from Texas University. He played 11 seasons in the NFL: New Orleans Saints (1999-2001), Miami Dolphins (2002-03) & (2005) & (2007-10). In the NFL, he ran for 10,009 yards, at 4.1 yards per attempt. During his NFL career, he scored 66 rushing touchdowns and added eight touchdowns on pass receptions. Williams had his best NFL season in 2002, when he led the league in rushing attempts (383), rushing yards (1,853), and rushing yards per game (115.8). During his 2006 NFL suspension for marijuana use, Williams played for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.
The offered Ricky Williams signed jersey has a "PUMA" manufacturer's tag on the left front tail. Attached to the manufacturer's tag are size "48" and "4" L.B. flag tags. On the back inside collar is a manufacturer's strip tag with "99-46," partially faded, on it. On the front, back, and each sleeve is the number "34" in sewn-on black on gold tackle twill. On a sewn-on white name plate across the back is the player's name, "R. Williams," sewn-on in black on gold tackle twill. The jersey has custom elastic sleeves and white spandex sides. The sewn-on "PUMA" logo and the black, gold, and white sewn-on "Saints" logo patch are on each sleeve below the player number. On the front of the neck is the official "NFL" logo patch. There is a small hole, about 0.25" in diameter, in-between the "3" and the "4" on the left sleeve, a tiny hole below this, and a very small stain in the middle of the number "4" on the left sleeve. The jersey exhibits moderate game use, with three team repairs - one very large - with occasional pilling, and the jersey appears to have no alterations of any kind. Williams signed the jersey on the "4" section of his "34" on back, using a fine-tip silver marker to write both his signature and player number "34."
