The program is titled, "Ernie Davis 'The Elmira Express' ALL-AMERICAN/1961 Heisman Trophy Winner." Davis lived in Elmira after moving there are age 12. At Syracuse University, he was a halfback who wore the same number 44 as a previous Syracuse football legend, Jim Brown. In his career at Syracuse, Davis rushed for 2,386 yards, a 6.6-yard average, and had 35 touchdowns and 220 overall points, all Syracuse records at the conclusion of his collegiate career. He was the first overall pick in the 1962 NFL Draft, by the Washington Redskins, but he was traded soon after to the Cleveland Browns, but he contracted leukemia and never played a down professionally, passing away from the illness in 1963, when he was only 23 years old.

The Ernie Davis and Jim Brown signatures show fading but are clearly legible. The program has fold lines from when it was folded, most likely to fit into a pocket. The program shows wear, with a few small stains. The program contains a number of images of Davis, one of him with the Heisman Trophy.
