Official National League (Heydler) ball signed in black fountain pen by
eight individuals, including five prominent Hall of Famers: Babe Ruth
(grading 7/10), Lou Gehrig (8/10), Miller Huggins (7/10), Tony Lazzeri
(6/10), and Rogers Hornsby (6/10). Ruth's signature adorns a side panel
along with that of former Major League player Jack Slattery, while the
signatures of Gehrig and Huggins appear together on a separate side
panel. It should be noted that Huggins' signature in any form is rare,
especially on a baseball, because he died on September 25, 1929 at the
age of fifty-one. Baseballs featuring the signatures of Ruth, Gehrig,
and Huggins (outside of Yankees team balls) have always been highly
coveted by collectors, and the addition of the Lazzeri and Hornsby
signatures make this an exceptional example. This baseball dates from
the 1926 to 1933 manufacturing period, which means it was obviously
signed sometime between 1926 and 1929. The fact that it features four
members of the New York Yankees, plus Hornsby and Slattery (who played
with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1906) might indicate that it was signed
at the 1926 World Series. The other two signatures on the ball do not
appear to be those of former Major League players (one is Lewis Waldron
and the other is illegible). Excellent condition overall. Full LOA from
