Original artwork used to produce Pedro Martinez's 2002 Topps Gallery Heritage card. Our consignor obtained this piece directly from Topps and it is accompanied by a COA issued by the Topps Vault. 2002 Topps Gallery Heritage original artworks are rare and this is the first example we have ever offered. Although the artwork is not signed, we feel quite confident in attributing it to noted sports artist Bill Purdom. Bill Purdom (1953-2016) was the most prolific artist in the history of the Topps Company, having created over 340 images for baseball, football, and basketball cards. His lithographs were featured as background art in several hit television shows, including Seinfeld, Arliss, and Everybody Loves Raymond. Today, lithographs of all seventy-five of Purdom's baseball paintings reside in the permanent collection of the Baseball Hall of Fame. The artwork (6.5x8"; visible dimensions) has been matted and framed together with a 2002 Topps Gallery Heritage Jersey Relics #GHR-PM Pedro Martinez card.
