Collection of four circa 1880s Stevengraph boxing silks, all complete with their original cardboard mount. The four boxers represented here are John L. Sullivan, Jem Smith, Jake Kilrain, and Charley Mitchell. Each exquisite silken image features the respective fighter striking a boxing pose, with the boxer's name printed along the base of the mount. The notation "Printed in Pure Silk By T. Stevens, Coventry" also appears in print on the front of the mount. The reverse of each features a biographical sheet for the respective boxer, which includes an additional credit for Thomas Stevens and his company, Stevengraph Works. Each silk artwork (2.5x4") remains in Near Mint condition, but the mounts (5.25x7") display varying flaws including toning, two large creases to the Mitchell mount, a crease to the Smith mount, and both creases and chips to the Sullivan mount. The Sullivan mount also displays various clipped advertising for Vickers watches, which entirely covers the Sullivan biography sheet.
