Seldom-seen Ted Williams pennant dating from the 1950s. The standard baseball-pennant guide book describes this pennant as "Extremely Rare," but given our experience, that might be an understatement. This is not only the first example of this pennant we have ever sold, but the first we can recall having seen at any auction. The design features a large portrait image of the "Splendid Splinter," with the name "Ted Williams" lettered to the right. This pennant was recently discovered by our consignor in the heart of "Red Sox Nation," where it has most likely remained in storage for most of the past seventy-plus years. The red-felt pennant (27.5"), which retains all four of its original tassels, displays tack holes to the tassels, corners, and tip. Excellent to Mint condition overall. This pennant is probably a "Holy Grail" for most Ted Williams collectors and represents an opportunity that should not be overlooked, as it may be a long time before another example surfaces.
