An original pen and ink cartoon by artist Phil Berube featuring Lou Gehrig. The framed and matted 7x9.25" image features a small Gehrig with a giant hand holding a sack that reads "The Crown... All wrapped up for the 4th consecutive time," and a caption reads "LOU GEHRIG THE 'OL IRON MAN CLAIMS THE YANKEES WILL COP THE SERIES FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN A ROW." The Yankees won the World Series in four consecutive seasons from 1936-39 and the image is presumably from September of 1939. 1939 would also mark the last season of Gehrig's legendary career as he had to retire after contracting a rare illness. Berube focused most of his artwork on the sports world and was known for his ability to create photo-realistic images with pen and ink.
