Bobby Orr is by consensus the greatest defenseman in NHL history. Presented is a May 10, 1970, Boston Bruins ticket stub from the 1970 Stanley Cup final game when the Hall of Famer scored an amazing "flying goal" to win the Stanley Cup in overtime. Never before Orr had a defenseman been such an offensive force. Orr collected so many trophies that he could have been branded as an obsessed hoarder: 3-time Hart, 2-time Ross, 2-time Conn Smythe, and an 8-time Norris winner - all consecutive. He eventually won two Stanley Cups with the Boston Bruins, but as he entered the 1969-70 playoffs, he had yet to win a Stanley Cup. Orr was at his peak in that '69-70 campaign. He notched 33 goals and added 83 assists for 120 points. The Bruins held a 3-0 lead in games in the Final Round against the St. Louis Blues. In the opening minute of sudden death overtime, Orr took a pass from Derek Sanderson and skated across the Blues goalmouth. Orr shot into the five-hole, between the legs of Blues goalie Glenn Hall. As Orr saw the goal score, he went into the air, and was briefly horizontal, parallel to the ice, arms outstretched like Superman, looking as if he were flying. Video shows that Orr was tripped by St. Louis defenseman Noel Picard, but Orr later insisted that his "flying" was deliberate. Orr explained, "As I went across, Glenn's (goalie Glenn Hall) legs opened. I looked back and I saw it go in, so I jumped." An iconic photo of Orr's "Flying Goal" was made by photographer Ray Lussier, and it depicts Orr's great joy as he smiles while actually airborne. Orr's wondrous goal gave Boston its first Stanley Cup since 1941. The offered reads, "$3.00 2nd Balcony/Boston Playoff 7" and it measures approximately 1x1.5". The stub has been encapsulated and graded by PSA as "PR 1." Front of ticket is amazing and would be difficult to find a nicer on, back had glue removed and stained the back. The ticket stub represents "The Flying Goal," a singular moment in hockey history, by the greatest defenseman of all-time.
