** SLAB IS INCORRECTLY LABELED. THIS IS NOT THE PHOTO FOR THE CARD
Displayed is a circa 1952 original photograph of Hall of Fame Cleveland Indians right-hander Bob Feller and was used for his 1953 Topps image. Feller spent his entire Major League career with Cleveland. He won 266 games, and most likely would have far surpassed 300 wins if not for missing nearly four full seasons during World War II, when he served in combat for the U.S. Navy as a gun captain aboard an aircraft carrier in the South Pacific. Feller led the AL in strikeouts seven times, and he was a member of the 1948 World Champions. The offered photo was used to produce Topps 1953 card #54. This set exhibits gorgeous, detailed artwork, with the photos becoming painted pictures that are stunning in their vibrant hues. The black & white photograph measures approx. 5x7". It has been PSA Certified as "TYPE I AUTHENTIC." The photo has a crease and some slight wrinkling near the top, but it is in otherwise EXCELLENT condition.
