Presented is a Mickey Mantle signed oversize print that the Hall of Fame center fielder inscribed as "1956," the year he won the American League Triple Crown. In the offered signed print, Mantle is wearing his "Crown" at Yankee Stadium, with Hall of Fame New York Yankee manager Casey Stengel only too glad to steady the crown on Mickey's head. An unknown hand has used black markers to place Mantle's Triple Crown numbers on the three bats Mickey holds. Stengel once said of Mantle, "He should lead the league in everything. With his combination of speed and power, he should win the batting triple crown every year." Mantle did not win the Triple Crown every year; in fact, he never won it again after 1956, but in that year, Mantle had a tremendous season as he led the Bronx Bombers to the AL Pennant and a Game 7 victory over the Brooklyn Dodgers in the World Series. In achieving the Triple Crown, Mantle led in the three mandatory Triple Crown categories of batting average (.353), home runs (52), and RBIs (130). But Mantle didn't stop there; he also led the AL in WAR (11.2), runs (132), Slugging (.705), OPS (1.169), and total bases (376). The offered signed and inscribed print is made from the original, copyrighted negative. Mantle signed and inscribed the photo using black ink from a fine tip marker. Mantle's signature is written in his usual, bold and beautiful script and has been graded GEM MINT 10 by PSA. Full LOA from PSA.
