Displayed is a 1981 MLB All-Star Game full ticket signed by Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter, the game's MVP. The '81 All-Star game was originally scheduled for July 14th, but a two-month players' strike resulted in the game being postponed to Sunday, August 9th at Cleveland Stadium. Carter, the Montreal star, batted seventh for the NL. He hit bases-loaded homers in the 5th and 7th innings to lead the NL to a 5-4 victory. The San Francisco Giants' Vida Blue got the win, with reliever Rollie Fingers getting the loss for the AL. Carter played 19 Major League seasons, mainly for Montreal and the New York Mets. The 11-time All-Star bashed 324 home runs and helped the Mets to the 1986 World Championship. The offered ticket measures approx. 2.5x6". The ticket reads, in part, "1981 All-Star Game/Cleveland Stadium/July 14, 1981 (the originally scheduled date)/LOWER BOX $20.00."
