Presented is a 1971 Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier I on-site boxing poster. This rare paper poster measures 28x21.75" and was hung in New York City or surrounding areas to promote the famous fight. Very few of these paper posters have survived as they are much more fragile than their cardboard counterparts. There are four folds in the poster from top to bottom. And while the poster does have some flaws, including the folds, it would look great in a frame as it has tremendous eye appeal. The poster is bright yellow with black and red text. The text lists the date, time, and location of the fight: March 8, 8:30 PM at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and also reads "15 Rounds for the Heavyweight Championship of the World, Joe Frazier vs. Muhammad Ali." The fight occurred on March 8, 1971, and is widely regarded as the biggest boxing match in history. It is also considered to be one of the single most anticipated sporting events ever. Both fighters were undefeated going into the fight, and Frazier won the epic clash in a 15-round unanimous decision.
