Displayed is a 1950s Wilson Sporting Goods cardboard advertising display featuring Hall of Fame Boston Red Sox left fielder Ted Williams. Irregularly shaped, the display measures approx. 17.3" at its widest point and 20" at its tallest point. A 15.6" color image of Williams in his classic follow-through is the key photo. The Splendid Splinter hit 521 home runs in his career, all with the Boston Red Sox. With a lifetime batting average of .344, six batting crowns, and an astounding .401 batting average in 1941; no wonder Williams was the key player in the offering. Also, included on the display are four head shots of other American League players in the 1950s. Each black & white headshot is about 3.25" tall. Included: Harvey Kuenn, Detroit Tigers shortstop; Billy Martin, the New York Yankees second baseman; Boston Red Sox catcher Sammy White; and Cincinnati Reds shortstop Roy McMillan. The display has the original 17.25" cardboard easel on back. This display is all original but was probably part of a larger display that had several separate pieces to it. The display has a few small stains and some very minor paper loss. Overall, the display is in EX condition.
