"I'll have a blue Christmas without you...." sang Elvis Presley in his 1957 cover of "Blue Christmas," by Billy Hayes and Jay W. Johnson. Elvis recorded a number of Christmas albums, and just some of the Christmas songs he recorded include "Silent Night," "I'll Be Home for Christmas," and "Here Comes Santa Claus." Thus, it's not too surprising that Elvis saved Christmas cards and that an Elvis Presley album, in a three-ring binder, measuring 11.5x11.5" of 20+ Christmas cards sent by various celebrities to Elvis, some of them signed, would be offered. The album has a 7.5" piece of hand-punch lettered red tape, made by an unknown hand, reading," ELVIS PRESLEYS [sic] CHRISTMAS CARDS." Originally, the album of Christmas and holiday cards came from Graceland, the home of Elvis in Memphis, Tennessee. At a later point, the Christmas card album comes from the Elvis Presley Auction at the MGM Grand, in 1999 (Guernsey's Auction House). The celebrity cards to Elvis are from: Bob Hope, Robert Mitchum, Laurence Welk, Hedda Hopper, Connie Francis (signed), Red Skelton, Don Ho (signed as "Don"), Sonny and Cher, Bobby Darin (signed), Gracie and George Burns, Liberace, May West, Gene Autry, Jackie Gleason, Hal Wallis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Lyndon Johnson, Rick Nelson, and more. Most of the Christmas and holiday cards are in very good to excellent condition.
