Displayed is a Mickey Mantle single-signed Official American League Ball (Brown). The Hall of Fame center fielder from Oklahoma was named by Mickey's father after Hall of Fame catcher Mickey Cochrane. Mantle played his entire MLB career with the New York Yankees, and he was a part of seven World Championship teams. From an early age, Mickey was trained by his father (pitching right-handed) and his grandfather (pitching left-handed) to be a switch-hitter, and with 536 home runs, Mantle has hit more four-baggers than any other switch-hitter in MLB history. In 1961, Mantle was in a season-long race with teammate Roger Maris to break Babe Ruth's single-season home run record of 60 homers. Mantle missed crucial September games because of a hip abscess, and Maris blasted 61 dingers to take the single-season record, while Mantle ended '61 with 54 home runs. Mantle was a 3-time AL MVP, and the 20-time All-Star won the '56 AL Triple Crown with 52 home runs, 130 RBIs, and a .353 batting average. The offered baseball has light toning, but it is in otherwise EXCELLENT condition. Mantle signed on the sweet spot, neatly scripting an 8.5/9 autograph in blue ballpoint ink.
