Presented is a 1929 Rogers Hornsby original News Service Type I photo from his time as a player on the Chicago Cubs. Hornsby, mainly a second baseman, played 23 Major League seasons: St. Louis Cards (1915-26 & 1933), New York Giants (1933), Boston Braves (1918), Chicago Cubs (1929-32), and St. Louis Browns (1933-37). His career Major League batting average was .358, second only to the .366 posted by Ty Cobb. Hornsby, a 7-time batting champion, was a 2-time MVP. He also managed six different Major League clubs. The offered photo measures 4.25x6.6". On back is a printed, suggested slug line reading, "...CREDIT LINE: ...FROM: WIDE WORLD PHOTOS...MEMBER OF CHICAGO "CUBS" TO APPEAR IN WORLD SERIES...Rogers Hornsby, SECOND BASEMAN. - 9/24/29." with a ".380" written in blue ink by an unknown hand.
