Presented is a 1924 World's Champion Washington Senators panoramic photograph, a specially-produced copy made from the original. We have never before seen one of these. Washington, officially named the Nationals from 1905-56, but more commonly called the Senators, won the 1924 AL Pennant with a 92-62-2 record and defeated the New York Giants in seven games to win the World Series. Hall of Fame pitcher Walter "Big Train" Johnson is front row center. Johnson, who with 417 wins is only behind Cy Young (511) as the Major League leader in lifetime wins, went 23-7 in '24. Goose Goslin, front row, far right, batted .334 that season and led the team in home runs (12) and RBIs (125). Hall of Famer Joe Cronin, an infielder, was the playing manager of the team, and he is sitting to Johnson's left. Hall of Fame outfielder Sam Rice is in the front row, third from right. In the '24 season, he batted .334. In the second row, on the far right is Nick Altrock, a coach in '24 and a former Major League pitcher. Later known as a popular baseball "clown," Altrock, then 47 years old, pitched two innings late in the '24 season, as a novelty to entertain fans. Some of the stars: Joe Judge, front row, fourth from left; Tom Zachary, front row on far left; Muddy Ruel, second row, third from the right; Roger Peckinpaugh, top row, third from left. The team photograph measures 10.25x16.75", and it has a heavy card stock backing. Hand printed in white by an unknown hand on the top of the original photo, and appearing on this offered copy: "Washington Base Ball Team/World's Champions 1924/Autographed by Players." To be clear, the signatures on the offering are not real but are a part of this produced photographed piece made from an original, autographed team photo, and most likely sold as souvenirs at the Senators' home games at Griffith Stadium. Hand printed on the original photograph used to make this copy, by an unknown hand: "Photo by H.H. Rideout/1110 F. St." The photo has paper loss in the top left and bottom left. There are a few small tears on the bottom left and folds in some areas, and what appears to be a water-damage stain on the lower left. Naturally, after a century, the photo shows some slight darkening. Considering that 2024 marks the 100th Anniversary of these Washington Senators Champions, the photo has enough quality to present well, as most of the imperfections are in the corners or at the top and bottom, and away from the player photos.
