He was a star center and linebacker at the University of Michigan, and he played on two undefeated Michigan teams that were national champions in 1932-33. He later turned down offers to play professional football. A Republican serving as Vice President, he took office after the 1974 resignation of President Richard Nixon, and Ford served from 1974-77. 2) Jimmy Carter was the 39th U.S. President. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy, where he was a member of the sprint football team. A Democrat, he served as President from 1977-81. During his term as President, the United States had 52 hostages taken by Iran for 444 days. 3) Ronald Reagan was the 40th President of the U.S. At Eureka College, he was a guard on the football team. Later, he became a radio announcer and recreated games of the Chicago Cubs. He was a noted movie star before he entered politics.
