Displayed is a 1957 collectible, a premium from Sohio Gas: Photos of eighteen (18) 1957 Cleveland Indians, including Roger Maris. Also included are photos of Hall of Famers Early Wynn and Bob Lemon. The black & white photos measure approx. 5x7". They are attached in groups of threes with still-intact perforations separating each of the photos. Each image has a facsimile autograph. In 1957, the Cleveland Indians had a 76-77 record and finished in 6th place in the American League. The leading pitchers were Mike Garcia (12-8) and Early Wynn (14-17). Gene Woodling had the highest batting average that year (.321), and Vic Wertz led the power hitters with 28 home runs and 105 RBIs. Young power hitters included Rocky Colavito, who bashed 25 homers, and Maris, who at 22 years old hit 14 home runs. Four years later, after being traded to the New York Yankees, by way of the team's Kansas City Athletics "cousins," Maris beat Babe Ruth's single-season home run record with 61 round-trippers. The photos: Maris, Don Mossi, Jim Hegan; Lemon, Colavito, Bob Usher; Wynn, Gene Woodling, Jim Busby; Herb Score, George Strickland, Ray Narleski; Al Smith, Mike Garcia, Bob Avila; Wertz, 'Chico" Carrasquel, Russ Nixon. The photos exhibit some very slight toning on-and-around the margins, but they are in otherwise EXCELLENT condition.
