This attractive nineteenth-century baseball figural piece was designed to hold a pocket watch. We have seen several different nineteenth-century baseball pocket watch holders over the years, but this one is especially desirable because it depicts two baseball players, one at each end. Each of the generic players is dressed in a classic bib-style jersey and carries a bat. The scoreboard on the posts to which each figure is attached lists the teams as "Them" and "Us." A hook is attached to the back of the scoreboard so that the pocket watch will hang between the posts. All metal construction. An engraved initial, which appears to read "CR," appears on the underside of the base. The piece displays wear consistent with its age, including tarnishing. Length: 4". Width: 2.25". Height: 5".
