An 1871 stock certificate for one share in the Boston Red Stockings. The certificate was purchased by a Eugene Pope for the cost of $100. The certificate is signed and stamped by the team. The left side of the certificate has a tear but is almost entirely complete. The Boston Red Stockings were a dominant team in the National Association, winning four of the league's five championships. The National Association would fold in 1876 and the Red Stockings franchise would later endure several name changes, eventually becoming the Braves. In 1953, the Braves moved to Milwaukee and would eventually become the Brewers.
