Displayed is a 2013 Tony Pena New York Yankees complete game used road uniform worn by the former catching star when he was the Yankees' bench coach. Pena played 18 Major League seasons: Pittsburgh Pirates (1980-86), St. Louis Cardinals (1987-89), Boston Red Sox (1990-93), Cleveland Indians (1994-96), Chicago White Sox (1997), Houston Astros (1997). A catcher from the Dominican Republic, Pena was a converted outfielder who developed a style, since widely imitated, of getting low to the ground by sticking his left leg straight out towards the pitcher and crouching on his right bent leg. This was done with no men on base in order to help pitchers to keep their throws low. A 5-time All Star, Pena batted a career .260, with 107 home runs. He also later managed the Kansas City Royals and a number of teams in winter ball in the Dominican Republic. From 2007-16, he was a coach with the New York Yankees, and he served as the Yankee bench coach when the offered uniform was game used in 2013. The game used jersey is gray knit with "NEW YORK" in Navy-blue letters with white trim sewn on the chest. Six silver-gray buttons run down the front. The front left outside tail has an MLB Authentic Majestic manufacturer's tag with a Steiner game used sticker. Beneath the above manufacturer's tag is a size 44 tag and a 2018 year tag. Below the above-mentioned tags is a New York Yankees barcode tag; "0000002953." The jersey back has "56" in navy blue sewn-on numerals with white trim. The back, outside collar has an MLB tag. The gray knit pants have a sewn-in elastic belt, and a fly with a working zipper and two metal, gray, snap buttons. The back, inside elastic waistband, has an MLB Authentic Collection/Majestic with a Steiner Game Used hologram sticker and an MLB hologram sticker reading, EK 809474. Additional tagging on the back, elastic interior belt reads "56" (number), Pena 34-36 33 '13 (year). The rear pockets each have a gray button. The offered cap is navy blue with an interlocking "NY" on the front. The back hatband has four tags: 1) An MLB Authentic Collection Official On-Field Cap; 2) New Era Cool Base; 3) Size 7"; 4) Engineered exclusively for MLB Players. The inside brim hologram stickers: Steiner Game Used; EK 809490; #200799. The entire aforementioned uniform was game worn on September 29, 2013. This was the date of Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera's last official game in a New York Yankee uniform.
