Presented is a 1998 Greg Maddux Atlanta Braves signed game worn hat from his 106th win on Sept. 27, 1998. Though we cannot confirm this, we can say that this cap is attributed to being worn during an Atlanta Braves game against the New York Mets, a 7-2 Braves win, in which Maddux won his 106th game to set a franchise record for the Braves' Atlanta years. The Hall of Fame right-hander played 23 Major League seasons: Chicago Cubs (1986-92 & 2004-06), Atlanta Braves (1993-2003), Los Angeles Dodgers (2006 & 2008), San Diego Padres (2007-08). The 8-time All-Star had a 355-227 lifetime record with a career 3.16 ERA and 3,371 strikeouts. He was the first pitcher in baseball history to win the Cy Young Award four years in a row: (1992-95). A terrific fielder, he has won the most Gold Gloves of any player (18). He was a crucial part of the 1995 Atlanta Braves World Series winners. The cap is navy blue, with a red bill and a white letter "A" on front. Tags on the rear, inside hatband: "MLB Authentic Diamond Collection;" "New ERA;" "Size 7.5/100% wool." On the outside back is an MLB logo. Under the bill is "31" written in black marker by an unknown hand. Also under the bill, written in black/gray marker by an unknown hand: "Braves 7/Mets 2 Franchise Record 106 Wins." Although Warren Spahn won 356 games for the Boston/Milwaukee Braves to hold the franchise record for the Boston/Milwaukee/Atlanta franchise, Maddux broke the Atlanta Braves record for wins with 106 on the aforementioned date. Maddux neatly signed the bill of the hat in fine tip black marker. The cap shows light use and it is in EXCELLENT condition.
