Presented is a 1936 multi-signed Cleveland Indians game used Official American League Ball (Harridge) that is attributed to Hall of Famer Bob Feller's Major League debut. "Rapid Robert" earned his nickname for his incredible fastball. In an 18-year career (1936-41 & 1945-56), all with the Cleveland Indians, the right-hander from Van Meter, Iowa, had a lifetime 266-162 record with a 3.25 ERA. He missed all of 1942-44, and most of 1945 while in the U.S. Navy, where he served in combat as a gun captain on an aircraft carrier. Since he won 76 games in the three years before he entered the military, it is reasonable to assume that barring injury, Feller would have won close to 350 games if he had pitched in the Major Leagues instead of serving in the Navy, but Feller never complained about his military duty, and he was one of the early Major League military enlistees after the start of World War II. Feller was an 8-time All-Star and a key part of Cleveland's 1948 World Championship. An amazing prodigy, Feller was only 17 years old when he made his first MLB appearance, which came on July 19, 1936, in the second game of a doubleheader at Griffith Stadium in Washington, D.C., against the Washington Nationals. With the Indians trailing 9-2, Feller entered the game in the bottom of the 8th inning in relief of starter Johnny Allen. Feller walked the first two men he faced and then settled down to retire the next three hitters, and he gave up no hits and no earned runs. For the season, Feller had a 5-3 record with a 3.34 ERA. Attached is a digital article referencing the offered baseball and B.C. Clark, an autograph collector from North Carolina.

Clark was at Feller's debut, and he retrieved a foul ball from the game. Later, Clark had ten Cleveland Indians sign the ball, but Feller was not a signatory. Signing: Hall of Fame center fielder Earl Averill, who in '36 batted .378 with 28 home runs and 126 RBIs. Keys: B. Berger, G. Blaeholder, B. Campbell, O. Hale, O. Hildebrand, B. Knickerbocker, T. Lee, F. Pytlak, and Wally Schang (coach). The ten signatures, all on side panels, were scripted in blue or black fountain ink and they average 6/10. On the sweet spot, an unknown hand has penned, "July 19, 1936" in dark blue or black fountain ink. The offered ball has moderate soiling, and there are a few areas exhibiting light discoloration or spots. Overall, the baseball is in VG condition. The offered ball comes with a JSA LOA for the signatures (Cert. Number: YY64608).
