A bat used by Gary Sheffield during his 2009 season with the New York Mets. The Louisville Slugger model R161 bat is uncracked, 34.5 inches long, and weighs 32.4 ounces. The black bat shows great use with ball strikes throughout the barrel and a coat of pine tar on the handle. Sheffield has signed the bat near the barrel in silver marker, notating, "Game Used 2009" and "500 HR Season." The lot will include a Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA and the service has assigned the bat a grade of Game Used 9. Sheffield played his final season in 2009 with the Mets as he chased his 500th home run. He would eventually reach that goal and added nine more round-trippers to finish his career with 509.
