A New York Yankees jersey worn by Hall of Famer Dave Winfield during the 1983 season. The tail tag shows that the gray jersey is made by Wilson and is a size 44. The jersey shows outstanding signs of wear with evident dirt stains and loose threading. The interior collar tag reads "Winfield 83 1." The player has signed the garment in black marker above the Wilson tag. Also included in the lot is a Letter of Authenticity from MEARS, who has assigned the piece a grade of A10. Also drafted into the NBA and NFL out of High School, the outfielder was originally a member of the San Diego Padres, before Winfield signed with the Yankees in 1981 for a then-record 10 year, $23 million contract. The highly decorated player would make the All-Star team 12 times in his career to go along with 7 Gold Glove awards and 6 Silver Sluggers. Winfield, who had a career average of .283 and 3,110 hits, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001.
