Displayed is an all original 1980 Carney Lansford Boston Red Sox road jersey that was game worn by the third baseman. Lansford played 14 Major League seasons: California Angels (1978-80), Boston Red Sox (1981-82), Oakland Athletics (1983-92). He hit a career .290 with 2,074 hits, 151 home runs, and 874 RBIs. He won the 1981 AL batting championship and also took a Silver Slugger Award in that campaign. In 1981, when Lansford game wore this jersey, he batted .261 with 15 home runs and 80 RBIs. In his time with the Oakland Athletics, Lansford helped the Athletics win three straight pennants (1988-90) and the 1989 World Championship. The gray jersey has "Boston" in navy blue sewn-on letters across the chest, The collar has a Wilson manufacturer's tag showing size "44." Seven silver-gray buttons run down the front. On the lower left tail is an "81" year tag. The back has a number "4" in a navy blue sewn-on numeral. In 1984, the number "4" was retired by the Red Sox in honor of Hall of Famer Joe Cronin. The jersey shows good use, yet it remains in fine condition.
