Doug Collins, the Philadelphia 76ers first overall pick in the 1973 NBA draft, played as a shooting guard for the team from 1973-81. Presented is a circa 1980 Doug Collins Philadelphia 76ers game worn uniform. The 6'6" Collins averaged 17.9 PPG, and 3.3 APG during his NBA career, all with Philadelphia. The former Illinois State star teamed with Julius Erving to take the 76ers to the 1973 NBA Finals, in which the 76ers were defeated by the Portland Trail Blazers. Collins wore this style jersey from the 1978-79 season to the 1980-81 season, so it could have been worn any time during those seasons. A number of injuries led to Collins' player retirement after the 1980-81 season, when he averaged 12.3 PPG and 3.5 APG. After his playing career, Collins became an NBA head coach for four teams, a broadcaster, and an executive. He is currently an advisor with the Chicago Bulls. He is in the College Basketball Hall of Fame and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, as a contributor. Both the Collins game worn jersey and game worn pants are mesh, in red with blue and white trim. The jersey and pants both show great wear. The jersey is original. The left front tail has three tags: A Pearson Sporting Goods tag; A Wilson manufacturers' tag showing size "40"; a 3" extra length tag. On the jersey front is SIXERS, in white lettering with blue trim. Under the team's name is "20" in white numerals with blue trim. On back is "COLLINS" in white block letters. Under the player's name is "20" in white numerals with blue trim. The shorts have a 76ers patch on the right front. Under the rear inside waistband, the shorts are tagged "80 20," for year and jersey number. Also, below the rear side waistband is a Wilson manufacturers' tag showing size "32" and a Pearson Sporting Goods tag. In the 1980-81 season, the 76ers had a 35th Anniversary patch on the shorts, but it is not present here. Overall, the uniform is in very nice condition.
