This large-scale, full body presentation blanket was part of the spoils of the June 18, 2005, Fleur De Lis Stakes won by Two Trail City. Winning presentation blankets, or “coolers” as they are sometimes called, are a rare commodity in the racing memorabilia world, and this one originating from the $300,000 added stakes race held beneath the fabled twin spires at Churchill Downs in Louisville Kentucky is an impressive example.
The 1 1/8 mile Fleur De Lis Stakes for fillies and mares age three and older dates back to 1975. Along with Two Trail City, the history of winners in the prestigious summer stakes race lists numerous distaff stars and future champions including: Serena’s Song, Rachel Alexandra, Royal Delta, Midnight Bisou and most recently Letruska.
This impressive white wool blanket with nylon girth strap and closure buckles displays the race name and year as well as the trademarked Churchill Downs official logo featuring the iconic twin spires of the legendary racetrack. A wonderful showpiece for any racing collection. The blanket measures 74x68".
