Presented is a super rare Jim Brown Cleveland Browns' die-cut advertising display dating from the 1960 NFL season. The 10.9x13.75" display features a large, black & white photographic image of Hall of Famer Jim Brown in uniform (sans helmet), with his name and fullback position printed directly below. The text reads, "SEE 'EM PLAY - THE CLEVELAND BROWNS." Printed below the text is the Cleveland Browns' home schedule, including a preseason game. No year is specified, but given the dates listed here, this offering can definitely dated to 1960. NFL display pieces from this era are scarce, especially those featuring a player of Jim Brown's renown. This is the first example of this piece we have ever seen, and since it is a regional issue of limited distribution, we cannot imagine that many others have survived. The display includes an easel back, intact and unused. The piece is in outstanding condition, a tremendous early display featuring one of the all-time greats from one of his best seasons. In 1960, Brown was not only the NFL Rushing Leader (1,257 yards) but also had his third consecutive 1,000-yard season and fourth consecutive rushing title. The display has great crossover appeal as Brown also became a movie star, appearing in numerous films, including The Dirty Dozen. The offering is a great vintage item, of extreme scarcity.
