The George Allen Trophy presented to Roman Gabriel in 1969 for being the Most Valuable Player on the Los Angeles Rams. Created by noted California artist Daniel Gluck, the metallic sculpture reflects Gluck's "Brutalist" art style and is one of his most striking works. With a height of 20 inches it is also believed to be the Gluck's largest sculpture. The engraved plaque on the front of the wooden base reads: Roman Gabriel/Most Valuable Ram/1969/Created By/Daniel Gluck/Presented By/Adohr Farms." (Adhor Farms was a large California dairy farm.) The engraved plaque on the top of the base reads "The George Allen Trophy." George Allen, of course, was the highly successful coach of the Rams at the time and a future member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The fact that Gabriel was named the Rams' Most Valuable Player in 1969 was no surprise, considering he also won the NFL MVP Award that season for leading the Rams to an 11-3 record. One of the top quarterbacks of his era, Gabriel played with the Rams from 1962 to 1972, earning four Pro Bowl selections during that time. The base (20x16"), which displays moderate wear, stands 7" in height. Total height of base and statue: 27". Weight: 64 pounds.
