St. Louis Cardinals scorecard, issued for a game against the Chicago Cubs on September 20, 1953, in which Ernie Banks hit his first career home run. The fold-over scorecard is neatly scored in pencil and records the Cardinals' 11-6 win that day. Banks' historic first home run, a solo blast, occurred in the eighth inning against Gerry Staley and is dutifully recorded here. Banks made his Major League debut on September 17, 1953, and this scorecard dates from his third game with the Cubs that season. This is the first example of this rare scorecard we have ever seen, let alone offered, making it a rare Ernie Banks souvenir commemorating the first of his eventual 512 home runs. The scorecard (7.5x11") displays light foxing throughout, as well as minor staining on the back cover. The name "Ernie Banks" is written in pencil (in an unknown hand) on the front cover.
