Enormous panoramic photograph capturing forty members of the 1945 Washington Redskins, champions of the NFL's Eastern Division. All the players are pictured in uniform as they pose standing shoulder to shoulder on the their practice field. Each player is identified in white lettering atop his respective image, including Sammy Baugh, Wayne Millner, Dudley DeGroot (head coach), Frank Akins, Doug Turley, Joe Aguirre, and Steve Bagarus. "Washington 1945 Redskins Eastern Champions" is printed in white lettering along the base. The photographer's credit, "Tenschert," appears in the lower right corner. The photo (47x10") displays a few light creases and tiny areas of discoloration, but is in overall Excellent condition, and in far finer condition than most panoramic photos from this era. Behind the passing of future Hall of Famer Sammy Baugh and running of fullback Frank Akins, the Redskins fashioned a record of 8-2 in the NFL's Eastern Division in 1945. Baugh was especially efficient that year, recording career highs in completion percentage (70.3) and quarterback rating (109.9). Washington faced the Cleveland Rams in the NFL Championship game, but came up just one point short in a hard-fought 15-14 loss. Washington was one of the most successful franchises in he NFL from 1937 to 1945, appearing in three title games, and winning one World Championship. Following the 1945 season the team became a second-division club and did not make another postseason appearance until 1971.
